My name is Rumana

which means ‘pomegranate’ in Arabic. I’m a 30-something year old born & raised in London, and I stand at a whopping 5’2″- hence my blog title, The Little Pomegranate.

I started this blog in 2011 as medical student with a little hobby, but now as a working doctor, I hold on to crafting as my way to wind down and relax. In between juggling work and life, I squeezed in (and out) a beautiful baby girl, who keeps me on my toes. I took part in the BBC’s ‘The Great British Sewing Bee’ in 2016, reaching the quarter finals (much to my surprise) and since then have been part of the crafting community on social media.

Crafting serves as an outlet for all of the stresses that come with juggling life.

My Mission

My mission is to show the real process of sewing and other crafts. Things that take a while to complete, things that might go wrong or may not be ‘picture perfect’. I want to show you that the joy of crafting is the process and not just the end product. My crafts range from sewing, crochet to knitting. As well as sharing my crafting adventures, I share lifestyle content- from home improvement, beauty, food and health & well-being. I’m also passionate about inclusivity and representation within the crafting community.

I’ve been lucky to work with some great partners across the crafting world, including my on-going relationship as a Brand Ambassador for Pfaff UK, Spoonflower and as a Cricut Influencer. I’ve also had a coat pattern named after me! How many people can say that, right?
